Tonight marked the end of the home season for NIU basketball—a 66-49 victory over Eastern Michigan.
After an eight-game losing streak and an injury to star senior Xavier Silas, the Huskies have won two straight, led tonight by senior guard Jeremy Landers (fourth picture) and his 17 points. He got a standing ovation as he exited the game with about a minute left. Well deserving.
Wednesday night may have marked the end of the head coach Ricardo Patton’s tenure at NIU. With one year left, Patton is currently 35-80 after tonight’s game. While I don’t know all the details of buyouts or the inner workings of NIU sports right now, hard to imagine a .259 win percentage is worth another year.
We’ll see I guess.
Anyways, looks like my basketball shooting days are over until next year. Time for baseball season, my favorite of all the seasons.
