Not your ordinary boat race
Wednesday was the annual NIU Homecoming Recycled Boat Race at the East Lagoon.
The event is generally pretty amusing when a lot of peoples’ boats capsize or all apart mid-race.
That unfortunately didn’t happen while I was there but a few came close, while a few others dominated with their design.
The boats had to be made with nothing but recycled materials, ores included and went around one of the islands on the East Lagoon. Most of the participants were different organizations on campus.
Can honestly say I’m still surprised some of their designs didn’t sink the rowers. Guess that’s why I’m an photographer and not an engineer.
