Two legends meet
There are some photo opportunities that you just can’t pass up.
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is one of them.
It came to Wilmington this July for the annual Catfish Days festival. Yes, it’s called Catfish Days.
I was asked by one of city aldermen, John Persic Jr., who put in for the famous mobile hot dog’s appearance to do a photo opportunity. The Hotdoggers of Oscar Mayer wanted a picture Wilmington’s world famous Gemini Giant at the Launching Pad Restaurant.
I, of course, wasn’t saying no. How often would I get a picture like this again?
So while everyone was talking after group pics I took a few shots trying to an angle I liked. This one just so happened to work in the famous Route 66, which ran through Wilmington. It’s now Baltimore St./Route 53.
So I guess, technically, this is three legends meet.
